A few thoughts before departure

I'd like to share a couple of thoughts before we leave. Here's something from the book of Daniel about spiritual realities. The setting is: Daniel has a vision, in which an angel appears to him in response to his prayer and fasting. Here's some of what he tells Daniel:
Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days.
Daniel 10.11-12
This is an astonishing thing. An angel, a messenger from God, is resisted by "the prince of the Persian kingdom," evidently some sort of dark angel.

This seems to be one instance of what the Apostle Paul calls the rulers, ...authorities, ... powers of this dark world and... the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6.12). These are realities outside what most of us have knowingly experienced.

Given that these realities exist... what happens now? You can only see an excerpt on the web, but this article, Uganda's Miracle, by Kyalo Nguku, Charisma magazine, July 2006, has an amazing story of what can happen today.

In 2003, a team of pastors went to places where Kony had these annual satanic rituals to renounce witchcraft and idolatry. The short version is that they prayed, there was a physical manifestation (which so amazed a squad of soldiers that they gave their lives to Jesus on the spot), and the LRA has been on the decline ever since. Uganda's president told one of the pastors, "What you have done in one weekend we couldn't do in months."

Dare we hope for big results in Japan? Why not? Won't you pray for us and for the people of Japan?
