Technology and the lost-and-found
Last night I was sitting here in the den, and I saw an ugly thing pop up on the screen: "Error writing XYZ: read-only filesystem." Ouch! I saw "Journal has aborted" in the log and.... It happened again tonight, the night before departure.
Why should this happen now? I'm leaving tomorrow morning!
Well, probably the same reason that Carol's tooth and GI tract started acting up just before she left. And no, I don't mean "coincidence."
You may think I'm nuts, but past experience has taught us that weird stuff happens around the time that we're involved in missions-related stuff -- either just before or soon after. We think it's some kind of spiritual warfare. Which leads me to think that this trip must be pretty important -- else why bother?
So if you think of it, could you pray please for protection for the house -- not just electronic technology but anything that, if it failed (can you say "clogged drains"?) would interrupt the work we are doing in Japan?
On the plus side, when I talked with the lovely Carol today (I have now had three nights without her, and I'm glad tonight is the last one! I am really turning into a wimp), she told me that she had forgotten her phone somewhere... but it was there when she went back for it. Thank you Lord!
Thanks for praying! By the way, a few people at the office have asked what this trip is about, so I told them. They all reacted positively to it. This is cool.
"If being a christian were a crime, how many of your colleagues and neighbors would have enough evidence to turn you in?" About three more now.
